Location: St Philip's College, Alice Springs
Date: Finished in 2021
From late 2020 to early 2021, I collaborated a mural with the Graham Polly Farmer Foundation, Follow the Dream, students at my old high school: St Philip's College. Alongside my work as the Community Engagement Officer at headspace Alice Springs, all Follow the Dream students participated in a workshop with me to brainstorm ideas and elements that reflected their home communities and also life at St Philip's College. From that session, I then incorporated their drawings and ideas into the design of the mural.
All Follow the Dream students had the opportunity over the year to contribute to painting the mural which concluded with students placing their hand print on the mural to signify their contribution.
So excited to have been given the opportunity to work with such amazing young people apart of this program and have them make an incredible art piece that will be a feature of the school and the Follow the Dream Program for years to come.
(Please not that I myself do not identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. My work with this group was purely facilitation and collaboration and was entirely driven by the GPFF Follow the Dream students.)
