Tennant Creek Primary School Murals

Tennant Creek Primary School Murals

Location: Tennant Creek Primary School and Karguru Training Centre, NT

Date: October 2021

With the guidance of the school, I designed two murals for Tennant Creek Primary School: one exterior mural inspired by artist, Keith Haring, located at Tennant Creek Primary School and an interior one inspired by a calming jungle theme in the learning room at Karguru Training Centre. Although the outside mural was a solo job, I had a lot of helping hands from the Year 5-6 Students for the interior mural.

In these sessions I taught the students some painting techniques and why painting slow and steady provides a cleaner and nicer painting, providing a metaphor for life about not rushing the process and that good things take time. This reflection allowed the students to focus and take pride in this painting as it was something that they contributed to and were apart of, providing a beautiful sense of pride and achievement.
